Litchfield Park will soon witness a transformative change with the soon-to-be-completed development of Litchfield Square, a 26-acre mixed-use development project located at the Northeast corner of Litchfield Road and Wigwam Boulevard. Envisioned over 30 years ago, as City Manager Matthew Williams of Litchfield Park will tell you, this project stands as a testament to the city's dedication to progress and enhancing community life.
Owned by the city, Litchfield Square is set to become a vibrant center for both locals and visitors. At its core will be a 2.5-acre park, planned as a central communal area that will introduce a refreshing blend of greenery and open space in the urban environment. This park will not only serve as a focal point but also as a symbol of the community's commitment to fostering a lifestyle where nature and urban living seamlessly merge.
The buildings surrounding the park will offer a mix of uses. The ground floors are slated to house a variety of commercial businesses, creating a lively shopping and dining scene. The second floors will be dedicated to office spaces, providing contemporary work environments. Additionally, the potential inclusion of residential units on the third floors could bring a dynamic residential component to the community.
Prior to his recent retirement, the city’s Special Projects Manager Woody Scouten highlighted the project's extensive scale, noting the inclusion of approximately 1,600 parking spaces. This number underlines the anticipated daily influx of people, reinforcing Litchfield Square's role as a new commercial and social epicenter in Litchfield Park.
Upon completion, Litchfield Square will stand as a bold declaration of growth and development, embodying decades of thoughtful planning and aspiration. It will represent more than just a physical space; it will signify a promise of a more interconnected, lively, and dynamic future for the residents and businesses of Litchfield Park.
